Peanut Jacuzzi

So I got word back that they didn't want to use my other set of epauletts... and for stupid reasons at that. So heres an older one done up a bit nicer.

This here was the start of a demo to a friend of mine. After I started painted I realized that I already painted her, so I started experimenting with color. Still needs much work, but proportions are looking much better this time round.

Whistle While You Work!

So heres a few more things I've been doing at work. This one here is an invitation letter for some people. I would explain it more but it would take to long.

Here are some epaulett designs that I think we are going to go with.

uuuummmm

Couldn't think of a title. I'm gonna be uploading this to my personal website (!) since it's been so long since I've finished any personal illustrations (!!). I figured I'd share with you guys though. 'Tis the completion of my Fruit Zings line of retro candy (now that I've missed the trend -_-). Enjoy, but don't try to eat. And no smart remarks, Katie!

Sketch

Well here are some more sketches...well one sketch and one acrylic painting...I explain my process a bit over at my all new improved blog SketchPad77.blogspot.com. I actually drew this at church today and the funny thing is my bud sitting next to me actually knew who this was before I got anywhere near finishing and he started to laugh...not too loud but muffled. Well back to sketching some more wonderfull things.

Childrens Book

Ok I have had this in my head for about a week and it won't seem to go away, no matter how frustrated I get with it. So I think I might actually go through with this ideal. My idea is to actually write a "Children's Book" or rather adapt a story alreay in existance, David and Goliath. So as I start to come up with character concepts and designs and ideas and backgrounds I'll be postin them to see if I can get some direction....and here's the other kicker...I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MEDIA TO USE!! I'm leaning toward acrylics..but than again digital is pretty keen and so is water color...oooh an Gouache...Ugh...well here's where I learn to take baby steps....baby steps josh baby steps! Well this is my first "concept" of David painted in Photoshop. I can't wait to get some goliath designs up....I got some killer ideas in mind...NO PUN INTENDED for you bible scholars out there.
Josh...uuut!

holy crap

I'm actually doing something for the theme

Viking #1

I saw the new "Theme" and I got excited...So I rushed home and spent a few hours cranking this out...it's not quite how I saw it in my head..infact it's no where near what I wanted....I think I may have rushed it a tad..but none the less it is a Viking and I don't think it's that bad...I think I am going to put the Oil paints down till spring when I can open the windows..hahahaha!
I'll post more vikings later on.

New Theme

New Theme is..... VIKINGS!

ENJOY and draw me something viking-esque?

Commission

This was a commission given to me by the congregation of The Salvation Army in Sarasota for a present to the pastors who are leaving. I've never painted a building before so this was quite interesting, and pretty much done in two days. I brought it down there today but took it back to let it dry and put a coat of varnish over it before I officially let them have it.

CowBoy

Well I thought tonight was going to be a "Non-Productive" night and I was going to be lazy. Yeah that plan didn't quite go that way...I sat down infront of my drawing table and started drawing...then I decided to paint too! It's in gouache and there are things I like about it and things I don't but the point is I was learning lots. Enjoy!
Josh

I have NO idea what these guys are thinking or if they are even related. Still on this Gouache kick...but I just ordered some books for frelancing info and hopefully next month I'll be sending stuff off for possible work....Crossing my fingers.

Drawing Madness!

So heres my second attempt at that same Gibson Girl copy. Less crazy mohawk this time.

This was an experiment today with gouache and ink. I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm just playing.

Also I started a painting this weekend, but it turns out I already painted this pictures so I'll be experimenting with color on this one. And I'll be posting some figure drawing... probably Monday when I can use a big scanner.
Josh is on a roll, i gotta make a break before he makes four posts in a row!

Mr Incredible

Alrighty, here's another one that I did today. Man if this keeps up I am gonna have to purchase a new sketchbook real soon. I am finding it's a blast to draw dudes with that wonderful bushy mustache...try it it's fun. What' chew think eh?

Sketchin the night away...and the morning too!

Last night, after I had drawn up that trucker, I had such fun painting in gouache I just had to continue doing so. So I drew another one and then again this morning I decided to experiment with some colors. Im thinkin about doing a real finished peice like this....well find out later on today if I get anything started for it...got some ideas cookin but you'll have to wait for that...tee hee.

Trucker

I ended up having today off from work so I spent most of the day out and about but not before I took some time to draw. After I dropped Jason off at American Greetings I came home and had the "Doodle Bug" and this is what came out of that session. It was fun to draw on some nice paper and break out the Gouache again. Man I sure miss it. Well that's about all I have for now. Till Next Post.

so are you surprised?

Two things:
1) This sketch has taught me a valuable lesson about toned sketchbooks: don't render just because it's a toned sketchbook. It doesn't fit this image at all, and while I'm happy with the design the "final" rendered version feels... off.
2) I already know it looks kinda like me on the leash, so don't bother commenting on it; it makes you neither observant nor witty. And no, no one has seen this completed drawing before now (save Josh, who saw it after I scanned it in).

Morning Doodle Painted

Well here is this morning sketch painted in Photoshop....It was kind of fun workin this way. I feel I am learning lots....if you got some comments let me hear your shouts.
josh

Sketch-arama!

Heres a couple of pages of sketches. Some were done at a Barnes n Noble outing with Duncan. Some of the more random things where done waiting for a tow truck to carry my van off... good thing though, my van didn't fall off the tow truck!

I don't know why the colors so rich on the sketch book but I didn't feel like messing with it and I kinda like it!

Morning Doodle

Well this morning I was up and did my usuall doodle. I find it's a good way to get my day going in the creative direction. It's not much but it's a fun way to start the day.

this is so late

My pirate. This fella started out as a warmup sketch before I would get to my real pirate, but I said to hell with it since this chap came out decent enough.

Work in progress. I left out some of it cuz I want it to be a surprise, I guess. Any suggestions on what I've got so far? I'm thinking of changing her right hand cuz it looks awkard to me (that is to say I can't get this particular gesture right).
