Painting Jamaican!

OK so, I'm still alive/painting. This portrait is of a kid in Jamaica who lives at the Salvation Army's children home called the nest. I'm going to scan it once it dries. I'll also rename it to his name once I remember/ask someone at work.

"Jamaican" Oil on Canvas, 16x12

I'll get around to commenting on everyones posts and change the theme later tonight, or tomorrow. Have a great day!

FEWS HAS STARTED!! YAY!!

not my best proportionally but i don't think i've done a better portrait in pencil (or many portraits at all, really). I was mostly concerned with the values here and Duncan and I were VERY hungry. The pig skull(?) is from my drawing class so i didn't really get to finish it, but i like it.

To the "unexpected idea"!!

I am guessing that you guys have no clue to what I'm doing or I'll be doing. So let me explain:
At first, my idea was to have two ladies, one looking all nice - aristocrat - look, wearing a luxury dress, fanning herself away. Second lady would be dealing with dark magic type kind of thing (I know cheesy cliche), with smokey figured skull coming out from her hand, wearing nice little black renaissance dress type. .. Yea.. But then my idea from that completely changed to something else much more fun. There is a theme going on to it too. I'll be doing the 4 elements (yes cliche stuff again) with a fan - accessory - in each elements. :D But I won't discribe how it's going to incorporate with the figures. So Hah! You can image that yourself, cause it's more fun that way. XD Oh and.. the background is going to be awesome too... if it comes out right!

P.S. I love how Jason leaves such long ass comments to most works and leaving a second comments after the first. :D

My little girl!

Ah, my precious Sun-Yung. For maximum effect, look at this while listening to the opening theme "All The Way" from the anime "Kino's Journey," it's f*$&ing perfect (despite the fact the song is Japanese while Sun is half-Korean...)

I should perhaps explain a bit, for those not in the know. I created this character Sun-Yung Park back in sophomore year and have developed her and her family over the intervening years. It's been a long time since I've drawn Sun, and it's made me realize how much I miss the story! I'm going to have to revisit it and continue working on it. I do plan to actually finish this graphic novel...

Eventually.
