Report advertisement

So I finally finished the illustration I'd been working on. I had thought of doing something fun with the cropping/format, something thin and tall perhaps, but I remembered that this is supposed to be a magazine advertisement. It's 8 1/2 x 11, which I'm not terribly sure are actually typical magazine dimensions, but it's a format that, if nothing else, presents similar challenges.

I'm also including a close-up, since the full image above doesn't do justice to the detailing on the boots. It was a lot of hard work doing the patterning and stitching, but I think it was worth it in the end.

How fashionable

So I'm working on a personal illustration; my friend Rhiannon (a friend to several of this blog's contributors) and I challenge each other with projects to work on and -- I'm bored of typing this already.

It's a fashion-type illustration for these boots: HERE

So here's some thumbnails:
I must note, I knew I was going to throw in some graphic elements but they weren't focal so I just left them out in most steps.

Here's the drawing I took to tight:
After some discussion both of us agreed it was good (though there was some things like her face I would change once I made the jump to computer) but that there were better directions to take it, figure-wise.

Here's the updated tight drawing:
Final art will prob rely heavily on this linework. I'll composite in the graphic elements from the original tight.

Lastly, another fashionista drawing I did before this project started, cuz why not:
