Happy Late Turkey Day!

It's the day after Turkey Day and I am retardedly tired! How was everyone's day off yesterday? Hopefully it was a good one. My family and I had prime rib roast instead of turkey because we were all sick of eating turkey (even though it's only once a year... or two - Xmas.... OR everyday at Disney just eating away the legs!) and my mom is out of town and won't be back till Monday. ... And I love how annoying it can get when Firefox tells you when you spell something wrong. But anyways, I think my grandma wanted to have a traditional Thanksgiving but my dad and I said screw turkey because turkey's turkey...~! So, the prime ribs were WAY better and delicious. YUM! =) Other than that, it was a durn quiet evening yesterday and at times felt really awkward. Don't know why, but this year, everything just seems more quieter than other years. Has anyone ever notice that or is it just me?

Anyways, I think I will end here as I am falling off my seat oh ever so slowly and eyes about to pull the curtain, and listening to really soft music mixed with bad ass traditional Japanese music doesn't help... Rin' ... Check them out. They are really good. :) ... I feel like I'm writing a letter or something... a blog! Holy cow I'm becoming one of them bloggers!!! Must end~!

Ps. I'd like to share this picture that I took with you guys... I don't know why, it just popped up in my head to post this picture. It's a shopping cart parking lot. LOL... Only in Asia~!

oh my gawd

Something based on the current theme! When does that ever happen??

This time it's a cowboy. He's not a sheriff, just a landowner tired of cattle rustlers and cow tippers? Hope y'all like it.

Report advertisement

So I finally finished the illustration I'd been working on. I had thought of doing something fun with the cropping/format, something thin and tall perhaps, but I remembered that this is supposed to be a magazine advertisement. It's 8 1/2 x 11, which I'm not terribly sure are actually typical magazine dimensions, but it's a format that, if nothing else, presents similar challenges.

I'm also including a close-up, since the full image above doesn't do justice to the detailing on the boots. It was a lot of hard work doing the patterning and stitching, but I think it was worth it in the end.

How fashionable

So I'm working on a personal illustration; my friend Rhiannon (a friend to several of this blog's contributors) and I challenge each other with projects to work on and -- I'm bored of typing this already.

It's a fashion-type illustration for these boots: HERE

So here's some thumbnails:
I must note, I knew I was going to throw in some graphic elements but they weren't focal so I just left them out in most steps.

Here's the drawing I took to tight:
After some discussion both of us agreed it was good (though there was some things like her face I would change once I made the jump to computer) but that there were better directions to take it, figure-wise.

Here's the updated tight drawing:
Final art will prob rely heavily on this linework. I'll composite in the graphic elements from the original tight.

Lastly, another fashionista drawing I did before this project started, cuz why not:

OK so, I'm still alive/painting. This portrait is of a kid in Jamaica who lives at the Salvation Army's children home called the nest. I'm going to scan it once it dries. I'll also rename it to his name once I remember/ask someone at work.

I'll get around to commenting on everyones posts and change the theme later tonight, or tomorrow. Have a great day!

FEWS HAS STARTED!! YAY!!

not my best proportionally but i don't think i've done a better portrait in pencil (or many portraits at all, really). I was mostly concerned with the values here and Duncan and I were VERY hungry. The pig skull(?) is from my drawing class so i didn't really get to finish it, but i like it.

If I die today

know that it was not unexpected.

What else would you expect if you got this in your fortune cookie at lunch?

To the "unexpected idea"!!

I am guessing that you guys have no clue to what I'm doing or I'll be doing. So let me explain:
At first, my idea was to have two ladies, one looking all nice - aristocrat - look, wearing a luxury dress, fanning herself away. Second lady would be dealing with dark magic type kind of thing (I know cheesy cliche), with smokey figured skull coming out from her hand, wearing nice little black renaissance dress type. .. Yea.. But then my idea from that completely changed to something else much more fun. There is a theme going on to it too. I'll be doing the 4 elements (yes cliche stuff again) with a fan - accessory - in each elements. :D But I won't discribe how it's going to incorporate with the figures. So Hah! You can image that yourself, cause it's more fun that way. XD Oh and.. the background is going to be awesome too... if it comes out right!

P.S. I love how Jason leaves such long ass comments to most works and leaving a second comments after the first. :D

My little girl!

Ah, my precious Sun-Yung. For maximum effect, look at this while listening to the opening theme "All The Way" from the anime "Kino's Journey," it's f*$&ing perfect (despite the fact the song is Japanese while Sun is half-Korean...)

I should perhaps explain a bit, for those not in the know. I created this character Sun-Yung Park back in sophomore year and have developed her and her family over the intervening years. It's been a long time since I've drawn Sun, and it's made me realize how much I miss the story! I'm going to have to revisit it and continue working on it. I do plan to actually finish this graphic novel...

Eventually.

Whistle while you WORK!

So I made this at work monday/tuesday. They wanted a graphic for a cocoon and butterfly with the theme of "Transformed" for a camp coming up in October. They actually planned ahead this time and gave me plenty of notice!

So this first one.... well I really don't know what they are using them for yet.

These came after the first one, they wanted a heading type of image with the cocoon, a cross, and the butterfly. I like fancy crosses, but wanted something kinda simple, so I made that, and it looked as if it were making heart shapes so the middle one I put the red shape behind just that, and the bottom one I wanted to see what it would look like with the whole thing red. I gave them all three and they havnt responded to which one they like, or if they even like it.

boredy bored bored

This is what happens when I get bored and try to draw something straight from my head while trying not to stylize it. After getting away from it, I realize this may not read all that clearly. Lemme know if it does, guys.

I need to go back through and comment on posts, I've fallen behind on this stuff...

So far!

What's left to do is the headband, eyes area, background, and some little things here and there. The dress, I kind of cheated.. copy and pasted BUT I did some add on to it. :)

Whisle while you work

Heres the cover for a program I did for a music camp last week. And the other image is some graphics for the inside of the program. Heavily inspired by Alphonse Mucha, the cover is basically a master copy from his "Zodiac" piece... kinda. Done in illustrator, so I'm still learning how to use the pen and gradients and such. Ran out of time on the cover so I still want to go back in to the girl and put some gradients in the skin and hair.
