Circumnavigate the Globe

I think this is done now, though I'm hesitant to call it so. I'd like your guys' feedback before I put this (and several other things) on my own website—what do you think, anything that bugs you about this?

What I like about this illustration it the texture that you have added it gives the Illustration a odd time look. With I would like to see a the hands wrap it self about the scope a little more. How you have his hand to me feel like he is hold the scope with his fist and not with his finger's. If that makes any sense at all.

Hey man, I'm really digging the finished version! The colors are awesome and you have some sweet textures, I especially like the clouds and what you have on the basket.

Crit: I want to see the telescope a darker value, closer to the ropes. (the sky, skin and telescope are too similar to me)

Crit 2: the dog as a shape at the base of his muzzle where it joins the rest of his head- it's really close in value and I think you should just get rid of it.

very nice work man!

Katie, are you referring specifically to his left hand? Maybe darkening the value on the telescope may make it read more clearly that he's not using his pinky. What would you suggest to address your concern? Your solution might clarify what you mean.

D, I totally see what you mean about the telescope. And as for the shape you mention, that's actually a bit of linework that's a holdover from when his body was just one color and needed a line to differentiate the muzzle. I'll get rid of it.

Thanks, you two! I really need to go back and comment on previous posts...

Jason this is great! Lovin the colors and texture!

for the telescope issue, maybe drawing a bit of his thumb of his right hand underneath the telescope? and having his left hand fingers wrap around it a bit more?

are you trying to keep the characters as simple as possible? i was think maybe a little of some lighting on them, just a hint of it not a lot. cause the mountains and clouds are so detailed. just a thought.

looking good man1
