My work has a prompt this month which the theme that greek myths. I didn't Artemis to try night lighting and to try and work more with the mesh tool with more compacted grandets.
If I remember right the only thing I used a gradient of was the two poles and the leaf thing that is in her hair. Everything else has a should have a gradient mesh to it.
One thing that's proven to be really important to my current job is understanding how shadows behave—surprisingly often they are sharp, clear images of the object that's casting it. Take some time and be mesmerized by how light and shadows behave next time you're out in open sunlight, or any place with a single prominent light source. It can be pretty... revelatory. :)

The mesh view must look like one giant net. ;)
